Over-the-counter hearing aids are here, and patients need our support to make the best decisions for their hearing health. But that’s not all. The availability of OTC hearing aids also expands audiologists’ role as collaborators. Pharmacists and physicians will likely field questions about these devices. As hearing health experts, we need to work with these professions to convey the value of audiologists and ensure patients get the right hearing care.
