Participate in Virtual Student Advocacy Day on October 6!

September 13, 2022

ASHA is hosting its annual Student Advocacy Day on October 6, 2022, in collaboration with National NSSLHA. Student Advocacy Day is a virtual event where we encourage all students studying communication sciences and disorders to advocate by contacting their members of Congress on issues impacting the professions of audiology and speech-language pathology.

Federal officials routinely make decisions that impact not only practicing audiologists and speech-language pathologists (SLPs), but also students. Engaging in virtual advocacy is a quick and meaningful way to be heard! ASHA makes it easy by drafting template email messages to personalize and send directly to elected officials.

This year, we are asking students to “Take Action” by:

4 Steps to Take Action

  1. Select an issue or issues to advocate on.
  2. Review the prewritten message (you can personalize it!) to send to your elected officials
  3. Enter Your Info, which includes your name and home address (this identifies your elected officials)
  4. Click ‘Send Message’ and your email will be sent.

Get Social
Share that you advocated with your social network. Be sure to tag @ASHAAdvocacy and use the hashtags #NSSLHAadvocates and #StudentAdvocacyDay so we can see and share them too!
