The following new and revised ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification) codes are effective October 1, 2025, for fiscal year (FY) 2026. ICD-10-CM codes are updated annually. For past updates, see speech-language pathology ICD-10-CM code changes for 2025 and 2024.
Note: Always check with payers regarding coverage of new or revised ICD-10-CM codes. Coding changes may not always alter payer coverage decisions for specific conditions.

The 2026 ICD-10-CM includes new codes related to primary progressive apraxia of speech (PPAOS). Other updates of interest include new codes related to multiple sclerosis and genetic disorders, as well as revisions to the descriptions for codes related to fracture of other parts of neck (S12.8) and abnormal findings of neonatal hearing screening (P09.6).
The following list of changes only outlines the latest updates to the codes. For a full list of the codes relevant to SLPs, with instructional notes, see ASHA's resource on ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Codes Related to Speech, Language, and Swallowing Disorders [PDF].
